Job Description

The Department of Neuroscience of the University of Turin is opening a Postdoctoral Researcher position to join Annalisa Buffo’s team (https://nico.ottolenghi.unito.it/en/researchgroups/physiopathology-of-neural-stem-cells/). This position is funded by the upcoming ERC Synergy Grant CUSTOM_MADE (https://nico.ottolenghi.unito.it/en/researchgroups/physiopathology-of-neural-stem-cells/projects/) and offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge neuroscience research focused on neural-stem cell based repair and circuit reconstruction.
The selected postdoc will investigate the reconstruction of functional striatal circuits by human striatal progenitors with optimized properties upon grafting in preclinical models of Huntington’s disease.
The successful candidate will contribute to:
– Connectomics studies integrating single-cell RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics to map host–graft interactions.
– Cell engineering strategies to enhance neuroanatomical connectivity and enable controlled modulation of graft activity.
– In vivo functional/behavioral analyses to assess circuit repair and recovery of striatal function.
The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in neurobiology or a related discipline and possess documented experience in molecular biology and/or brain functional studies in rodents (eg
functional imaging, electrophysiology, or anatomical circuit tracing). She or he will be enthusiastic about developing technologies to map and enhance neural circuits and applying cutting-edge tools to probe the plastic and reparative capacities of the adult mammalian brain in the context of regenerative medicine for neurological disorders. The candidate will integrate in a lab with strong multi-disciplinary interests, and in collaborative activities within a strong and stimulating partnership across molecular neuroscience, bioengineering, stem cell and systems biology, and regenerative medicine.
Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
